How to Change the Default View Orientation of a Scene in HoloBuilder

Even though it’s one of the greatest features of 360° images that the viewer can look wherever he wants, your project might require to the viewing experience focused on a certain object or with a specific perspective.

The good news: This is quite easy in HoloBuilder. The according feature is called “set default view” and is accessible in the left sidebar, the so called “Project Panel”, where your scenes are listed.

The tiny camera icon  next to the preview updates the slide preview with the view orientation you selected and sets this as the default view when the slide is opened.

Thus setting the default view orientation of 360° photosphere in HoloBuilder only requires three simple steps:

  1. Import your 360° image/photo sphere into HoloBuilder.
Just in case you missed to import it via drag and drop during the initial project/scene creation process, you can also do it later using the “change the scene’s sphere” button  in the left sidebar.
  2. Rotate and zoom the view’s orientation like you want it to be shown to the viewer when he opens the scene.
  3. Click the tiny camera icon next to the slide in the left sidebar to save the current view as the default view for the slide and to update the preview accordingly.

That’s it, as simple as that. Now every slide opens with the view you desired for it and the focus what you have chosen. And because a picture is worth a thousand words, we want to close this tutorial with an animated GIF showing the process:
