The Projects screen displays the projects you currently have downloaded to the device with the JobWalk app under the header ‘ON THIS DEVICE’ and lists the projects that are ready for download from your HoloBuilder account under ‘IN THE CLOUD’.

The magnifying glass in the top right allows you to quickly search through your projects.

The three bars on the top left open a context menu that allows access to the Projects, Settings and Help & Feedback functions on default  and display the Logout and Use another account features if you tap on your name or the triangular arrow.

App settings

Increase performance:
  • Disable automatic 360 preview: When checked, disables the immediate image preview when capturing with the 360° camera. This reduces the loading time and increases the capturing speed.
  • Process photos in the background: When checked, enables the image processing in the background during the capturing process and reduces the capturing speed. Uncheck to disable the immediate image processing while capturing and increases the overall capturing speed. Please note, that the image processing will then be done when uploading the project to the cloud increasing the upload time.
Connectivity:
  • Upload/Download via WiFi only: When checked, the project will only upload when a WiFi connection is detected.
Visualization:
  • Rotate 360 previews by sensors: When checked, the captured 360° images can be rotated with the mobile sensors when viewing/editing.
  • Room Icon Size: Select the desired size of the waypoints displayed on your sheet.
Analytics:
  • Enable Analytics: When checked, enables us to learn more about the app performance and improved problem reporting.
  • JobWalk App version installed: Shows the installed version number for reference. Please always let us know which version you have installed for reference when you report a problem.
Size of UI:

Moving this slider to the right to increase the size of the Elements of the Interface, moving it to the left decreases it. Working with small screens, gloves, or in conditions with poor visibility is easier with a larger interface. Find the size that is right for you and your construction site.

Help & Feedback

1 Create or edit a project with JobWalk

There are two ways to get started, either by creating a new project inside the JobWalk app or by downloading an online HoloBuilder project you already set up using your browser.

You can start creating a new project by selecting the yellow -button at the bottom-left of your list of projects, providing project details and tapping on ‘Create Project’.

To download one of your online HoloBuilder projects from your cloud and using it with the JobWalk app simply select it from the ‘IN THE CLOUD’ section of the project list. To download one project select it and select ‘Download full project’. Your project will be downloaded.

If you want to queue multiple projects to download you can tap on the cloud symbol of one of the projects you want to download, scroll down the list and select additional projects. If you’re done making your selection, tap on ‘Download full project’.

‘Download full project’ means that all the data of that project is stored locally on your mobile device and can be edited with the JobWalk app. A large number of projects or project with a lot of images can drastically reduce the free space you have on your device. This is where the ‘Download project layout’ and ‘Free up storage space’ functions come in. Layouts are all the components you need to walk your site, but nothing more. ‘Free up storage space’ turns your project into a layout.

1.1 Upload a sheet

To choose a sheet for your virtual tour you have the following 6 options:

  • Take a photo: Use your mobile device’s camera to take a picture of a sheet.
  • Pick a file: Pick an image or pdf file saved on your smartphone to use as a sheet (on Android devices).
Please note that on iOS devices the “Pick a file” option only links to your photo gallery. To choose a PDF as a sheet, you first need to load the PDF on the iOS device (from a PC, download etc.). Then, open the file and share it to JobWalk app. This will execute by pointing back to the JobWalk screen with the sheet; ready to start taking photos. You can apply this solution to multiple sheets, also.
  • Download from Google Drive: Log into your Google Drive account and choose an image or pdf file to use as a sheet.
  • Download from Dropbox: Log into your Dropbox account and choose an image or pdf file to use as a sheet.
  • Use Google Maps: Either allow automatic position tracking or find the position of your site in Google Maps and crop the portion you want to use as a sheet.
  • I don’t have a sheet available: Use our provided grid as a sheet replacement if you do not yet have one.

Note that it is possible to replace the sheet later on in the HoloBuilder editor.

1.2 Connect your 360° camera to your mobile device via Wi-Fi

To create and add scenes to your sheet, please first connect your mobile device to the camera at hand. You can find information on this in the instruction manual for your 360° camera. Additionally, we provided some instructions and a list of all compatible cameras below.

1.3 Capture 360° images

Place your 360° camera in the room where you want to take the 360° image. Tap in a room or any other location on the sheet to trigger the 360° camera. While the image is loading, you can already name the room. After loading the image is finished, you can take a look at your 360° photo. If you are satisfied with the image, tap ‘Confirm’. If you want to retake the image, just tap ‘Retake’ to take another shot. To edit and change the rooms name, tap on . You can also delete the whole room by tapping . A yellow circle on the sheet, also called ‘waypoint’, indicates in which rooms you already took pictures. To retake the picture, rename the room or remove it from your tour, tap on the corresponding waypoint and select the ‘Open’ function.

You can rename the whole tour by tapping when in the project overview. Once you have finished your tour, tap to queue it for upload to your HoloBuilder account.

1.4 Link your scenes

It is possible to insert direct links between the scenes in the app. Open your project and select ‘EDIT TOUR’ in the menu. Select the sheet you want to edit the scenes off. Tap on a waypoint on the sheet and select ‘Open’ to edit the scene. The -icon opens the ‘Pick a scene to link to’ list. From that list, select the scene you want to link to.

To delete a link, tap on the link in the scene and select ‘DELETE’. Or, edit your complete project in the web editor. Make sure to synchronize the version on your mobile device with the cloud so that you edit the most recent version of the web editor and no progress gets lost.

1.5 Synchronize your tours

To upload the tour to HoloBuilder and make it accessible in the cloud from wherever you are, your smartphone needs to be connected to the internet. By default, JobWalk only uploads tours via Wi-Fi to slim down your data usage. You can change this in the app’s settings .

If you do not have access to the internet at the moment, or if you want to create another tour just tap tap to queue it for upload and carry on.
If you forget to upload your scenes, because you are waiting for a better internet connection and try to delete a project that has unsaved changes the JobWalk app will warn you.

1.6 Add Time Travel scenes

Time Travel enables you to take multiple images of a certain location at different times. Find out more about Time Travel with the dedicated tutorial.

To use Time Travel with the JobWalk app, first, open a HoloBuilder project on your device. If you are also using the HoloBuilder web editor to work on your projects, the app will let you know whether there are online changes that you first need to synchronize with the version currently saved on your mobile device. Alternatively, you can download one of your projects from the cloud to edit it. Tap the project to open. In the overview, select the appropriate sheet and connect your mobile device to the camera.

The waypoints mark your existing images. To create a Time Travel, first, place your tripod with the camera in the room. To have the best possible experience with Time Travel, it is always useful to place the camera in the exact spot as it was for the previous image. It might help to indicate the spots in the room with some tape or another marker for feature Time Travel capturing if possible. After the camera has been placed, click the corresponding waypoint on the sheet in the JobWalk app, after that check if the correct waypoint is bounded by blue rectangles and tap on the capture button. Repeat the process for all waypoints. Waypoints that already have a new Time Travel, will be indicated with a check mark on the waypoint. When all the waypoints are marked with a check mark that Time Travel is complete.

To save your progress, synchronize it to the cloud when finished and you have a good internet connection again. If you leave a Time Travel incomplete the app will ask whether you want to continue the old time travel or start a new one. Continuing allows you to complete a Time Travel you didn’t mean to leave incomplete, starting a new Time Travels allows you to add an iteration to a project.

2 Project Collaboration in the JobWalk app

All editing options as described above for a job walk can also be used in a team. Work simultaneously on a project to better distribute the workload and become even more efficient. Any progress will be uploaded and merged automatically. Learn more about collaboration projects here.
